University District
University District is a 200-acre master planned mixed-use community adjacent to the University of Calgary comprising mid-density residential, long-term care, retail, commercial, and entertainment venues. Cygnus designed a site-wide strategy for signage and wayfinding that serves to improve circulation and unify community by bringing the U/D throughout the site.
Our work includes the planning and design of signage to create a strong brand presence throughout University District, distinguish it from nearby communities, and address functional wayfinding requirements throughout the site.
Directional and parking-related wayfinding works alongside branded site signage to create a unified sense, while custom street signage further emphasizes University District as a unique, self-contained neighbourhood.
In addition to signage and wayfinding Cygnus also proposed concepts for prominent brand and placemaking features throughout the site. These were visualized through in situ renderings to convey the impact of these solutions.
